December 5, 2017

We have recently been asked to help some of you change the tax parameters in your DockMaster system because you received Tax Information Publication Tip No17A01-14 dated November 13, 2017.

This bulletin states that effective January 1, 2018, the State of Florida sales tax rate for rental, lease or License to use real property will decrease to 5.8%. There has been some confusion as to whether this affects the sales tax on slip rentals, dry stack rental and other dry storage of vessels. We asked the Florida Department of Revenue for clarification and received the following answer.

We hope you find bulletins like this useful. DockMaster is in no way providing tax advice. Should you have any questions about the notice above, we strongly advise our clients to seek the advice of a tax expert before deciding if this has any affect on how you collect sales tax.
